Self Evaluation to Personal Growth

There was a point in my life when I decided I wanted more for myself mentally, physically, and emotionally. This turned into my journey of personal growth. I had to take on challenges to confront my strengths, weaknesses, and everything in between.  I had to learn to accept, love and be proud of the person I am, imperfections and all.

I identified my strengths by recognizing the unique qualities and talents that make me who I am. Celebrating these strengths and areas of excellence was empowering. This reminded me of my natural worth and potential. I started by asking myself these questions. What am I good at? What skills, talents, or qualities set me apart from others? I began to celebrate my achievements and acknowledge the unique gifts that make me who I am.

It took courage to admit my weaknesses and areas for improvement. Instead of seeing them as flaws, I viewed them as opportunities for growth and embraced the challenge of overcoming them. I evaluated the areas where I struggle or feel challenged. I had to acknowledge these weaknesses without judgment and understand that they were opportunities for growth.

Developing a deeper understanding of myself, I was able to establish realistic goals that aligned with my values and aspirations. I found it was more productive to break down goals into small actionable milestones and create a plan that I could implement effectively. I had to be flexible and adaptable as I made progress on my journey. However, I took ownership of my actions and decisions, accepting responsibility for my successes and failures. This accountability encouraged me to learn from my mistakes and make better choices moving forward.

I also had to reevaluate my surroundings, friendships, activities, finances and the things I watched on television. All these factors played a role in my personal growth. My goal was to surround myself with an environment that was critically honest, positive, and uplifting.  Often, we need to be surrounded by things that will motivate us to be better, do better and be accountable. It wasn’t an easy path but having growth and opportunity is priceless. Anything worth having requires sacrifice and every action has a consequence. The choices we make can either have a good or not so desirable consequence.

I had to learn to give myself grace, kindness and understanding. This was valuable to me while navigating through life’s ups and downs. I celebrated each milestone and achievement to fuel my motivation to keep pushing forward.  I remain open to change and growth for new opportunities and experiences that came my way. This openness allowed me to evolve and adapt to the obstacles of life's journey.

Self-evaluation is a routine practice in my life. I complete my financial assessment on a biweekly basis. I do a reassessment of my goals and personal growth on a semi-annual basis.  By making self-evaluation a habit, I continue to reveal new perceptions and focus toward a more authentic and fulfilling life.  Adopting this practice is not just about facing the truth, it's about embracing the fullness of who I am and becoming the best version of myself. As I continue to navigate through life, I do so with courage, curiosity, and an unwavering commitment to growth.
